3. SOCIETY PROFILE
The Hellenic Institute of Acoustics (HEL.IN.A) is a non-profit society, aiming at the promotion of the science of acoustics in Greece, as well as the support and collaboration between individual scientists and/or institutions working for the development of new theoretical or applied results in the field. It was founded in 2001. Among the priorities of the Institute is the establishment of firm links between HEL.IN.A. and the other European Acoustical Societies under the umbrella of the European Acoustics Association.
The headquarters of the Institute are in Athens, but members of the Institute come from all over Greece. Among the future plans of the Institute is the creation of regional branches in Greece to support the local activities in the field as well as of technical groups classified according to specific areas of acoustics.
The Hellenic Institute of Acoustics has already organized two National Congress on Acoustics “ACOUSTICS 2002” in Patras and “ACOUSTICS 2004” in Thessaloniki. Next National Conference “ACOUSTICS 2006” will be held in Heraklion (September 2006).
