3. SOCIETY PROFILE
The Acoustical Society of Croatia (ASC) was founded on the founding assembly on 28th April 1998. The Society was founded mostly by members working in economy (radio and television, noise protection, building acoustics) and education (university). A group of students (electrotechnics and architecture) also joined. One of the founding members was also the first president of the Society, Bojan Ivancevic, who bears this office ever since.
ASC became an associated member of EAA on 22nd March 1999, and a full member from December 2005.
The members of ASC are active on many fields, such as working on a new law for noise protection, participating in standardization committees, helping customize Croatian industrial standards to be compatible with European, etc.
ASC members cooperate on many fields (medicine, ecology, building acoustics, noise protection, etc.) with corresponding organizations.
Alps-Adria Acoustics Association was founded as a new regional association by acoustical societies of Austria, Slovenia and Croatia during the Second Congress of Slovenian Acoustial Society held in Portoroz, Slovenia in September 2002. The goal of this Association is to promote all fields of research in acoustics, and to make a Congress which is held every two years circularly in the countries of the founding acoustic societies.
The annual assembly of ASC is held in April.
