EAA Technical Committee Education

EAA TC-EDU

The TC-EDU brings together docents from schools, high schools and universities that teach acoustics. This TC is in the initiation state.

One important activity of the TC-EDU ist the Acoustic Study Guide "EAA Schola". EAA Schola - the European Web-based University Guide - is a service to students in acoustics. It offers search functions for courses, thesis projects and all other information relevant for students in acoustics.

The procedure to establish EAA Schola is the following: Representatives from universities, faculties, departments, schools, institutes, called “administrators”, insert the data of their courses offered, the specific fields of acoustics research, project areas for MSc, BSc, PhD or similar into the system. This information is collected and hosted in the Schola database. The EAA TC Education coordinates the processes as soon as it is established.

The functionality available for the users of the system – the acoustics students in Europe – is currently programmed in a joint project with the German Acoustical Society, DEGA. A first version is available at the address http://european-acoustics.net/schola

We have now collected a significant list of addresses, and a number of contact persons have already received information how to use the Schola system, and personal log in data to insert their information into the system. Of course, contributions and any comment on EAA Schola is welcome at any time.

The EAA Board and Executive Council are convinced that this initiative will promote acoustics and well give information about studying acoustics, for the benefit of our young students and colleagues and for a good future of acoustics in Europe.
